RSL Linked With Striker Ariath Piol

RSL technical director Kurt Schmid has been speaking about a new striker to help fill the shoes left by Chicho Arango. We have been linked to a new striker, Ariath Piol. Ariath is a 20 year old right footed attacker from Australian club Macarthur. The amount rumored in the trade is 500,000$ cash. This will not affect our GAM total. The attacker has 9 career appearances but is highly rated. In those 9 appearances he has 3 goals and 1 assist. 2 of which were absolute bangers. The attacker has normally played in the striker position but is also comfortable playing on the wing. Piol was also linked with a team in France. Real Salt Lake technical director confirmed his knowledge of this player today on the ESPN 700 Radio Show with Spencer Checketts.

I think it's likely he fits into our team as a winger. He's 5'9 and incredibly pacey, one of his goals is reminiscent of the historic Gareth Bale goal where he outpaces a defender with no angle at all. Another is a flare dripped bicycle kick. It seems likely that this is a high upside signing. Those clips are linked below. If Pablo can do some magic and get the best from this player I could see him being a contributor this year. If you want the most likely possibility, I see Ariath getting a few chances in the congested early season and his minutes later in the year will be based almost entirely on his performances in those games.

Roster Construction Notes: Ariath is an international and will occupy a senior international roster slot. I have no idea what his salary is and will be putting 150,000$ when this is made official.
