It was reported first by Tom Bogert (@tombogert) that Real Salt Lake homegrown, Gavin Beavers is finalizing a move to Danish Club Brondby IF. The fee is undisclosed, but the young goalkeeper made 26 appearances for the first team and is only 19. This is surely going to be a multi million dollar transfer. Transfermarkt values Gavin at 350,000$ but I'd guess only a number over 2 million would force our hands.
After the departure of Fernando Delgado and Tomas Gomez this leaves us with one senior goalie with the organization. Co-Host of the Royal Riot Podcast, Hayden Nielsen (@royalriothayden) mentioned in a tweet, 'I do believe we have help in this position on the way.' So I think it's likely we get an improvement at the goalkeeper position if this transfer goes through. No names or player profiles have been mentioned. If we don't, expect Monarchs goalkeeper William MacKay to get a homegrown contract or MLS superdraft picks, Max Kerkvliet and Trace Alphin to get a shot to compete for a senior roster slot.
Roster Construction Notes: Gavin Beavers did not occupy a senior roster slot and did not contribute to our salary cap. He is a homegrown player, any amount received from his transfer can be converted to a maximum of 3M GAM we can use in 2026.
