It was announced on Monday February 18th that long time RSL veteran, Andrew Brody had his contract waived. Brody is a 29 year old right back. Last season Andrew came into the season as the starter and as a player well into their prime failed to outshine Bode Hidalgo or even out of position Philip Quinton. Andrew Brody will be replaced by Bode Hidalgo, Javain Brown, Philip Quinton, and Gio Villa. Andrew Brody has been training with the monarchs most of the offseason. This is a relatively rutheless move we rarely see from RSL. I remember us keeping Nick Besler on a contract for probably 3 years more than necessary. Sometimes, it's time for players to move on so other players can shine. Hopefully that's what we see from Bode Hidalgo this year. Brody did a serviceable job when called upon, hopefully he can find a lateral move somewhere great.
Brody was a homegrown on a contract low enough we could buy him down to a supplemental roster slot. This allows us to keep more draft picks/ homegrowns on the first team permanently. We will free up 85,000 GAM needed to buy down his contract. Supplemental roster slots players do not contribute to the cap. RSL has one remaining contract waive remaining for the 2025 season.
