RSL Acquires GK Mason Stajduhar from Orlando City

Earlier this week it was reported we had about 7 different goalkeepers in Sandy. We're adding another one. It's clear to me that there is very little written in stone in this position. We might be having some serious tryouts going on. The newest signing, Mason Stajduhar is a 27 year old American Goalkeeper. The trade was completed for 50,000 GAM guaranteed and 150,000 GAM conditional on performance bonuses. We also traded a second round draft pick next year. I think this is a pretty safe move. We only lose 50,000 GAM unless he plays a lot of minutes. If he plays a lot of minutes then he's probably worth the extra money. 

This goalkeeper has 23 senior appearances over the last decade. This indicates he's likely to be holding a backup or reserve spot. Last year his cap hit was 157,650$. This move confuses me, but I'm also generally confused about our goalkeeper position. Why are we holding 8 goalkeepers when a senior roster might only have 2 or 3? This player in particular is confusing because he needs to hold a senior roster slot.

Roster Construction Notes: We still have 4,537,435 GAM to play around with this year after this trade was made. This does not all need to be spent this transfer window and can be spent in the summer. I am not under the impression it can be rolled over after the season though.
