Real Salt Lake trades Julio to Dallas for GAM and Junqua

Real Salt Lake traded veteran FW Anderson Julio to FC Dallas for Sam Junqua and 200,000$ in 2025 GAM,  200,000$ in 2026 GAM, and another 100,000$ in GAM for potential incentives that are hit. Sam Junqua is a '6-0 left footed American center back valued at 650,000$ on transfermarkt, which is slightly higher than Philip Quinton who is valued at 600,000$.

Sam Junqua has made 104 career appearances for Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas, in which he scored 6 goals. Last season he played 2240 minutes over 26  starts (31 total appearances) with an average performance rating of 6.76 (fotmob).

It seems likely the veteran will occupy a spot very similar to Phillip Quinton last year. He will need to justify holding a senior roster slot. But with a cap hit of 212,368$ it seems like a smart and reasonable pickup for a backup left sided center back.
